There were only  a few months that FIFA 23 has only been on the market, the leaks about its successor has already out. A while ago, FIFA and EA Sports could not agree on a further cooperation. The consequence: They are going separate ways. For EA Sports "only" the name of the game will change, everything else, be it the gameplay or the licenses of the clubs and players, will remain the same. FIFA, on the other hand, is empty for the time being, although there are rumors that they want to develop their own game.

So, there will not be a FIFA 24 game. EA Sports has already announced that its next soccer game will be called EA Sports FC, and will launch in July 2023. EA Sports FC won't be the product of an official FIFA license, but EA Sports does still have over 300 other licensing deals with national soccer associations, leagues, teams, players, and clothing brands. Thus, EA Sports FC will still feel like a representation of real-world soccer, and will likely still play a lot like FIFA. That's probably as close to an answer as you'll get, FIFA 24 will be called EA Sports FC.

Back in October 2021, an official announcement said, “FIFA is engaging with various industry players, including developers, investors, and analysts, to build out a long-term view of the gaming, eSports, and interactive entertainment sector,” indicating that there might well be a variety of official FIFA-licensed games next season, but none have been announced yet. Likely candidates to rival EA Sports include Konami, whose ISS, PES, and eFootball brands have long been FIFA's closest rivals, and 2K Sports, who currently hold licenses for the NBA, the PGA, and the WWE, but have not as yet produced a soccer game. It'll also be interesting to see if this huge change in the soccer gaming landscape impacts Sports Interactive and Sega's genre-leading Football Manager series.

EA Sports FC Will Be The New FIFA 24
We all still have to get used to this relatively strange name "EA Sports FC". I think everyone will continue to say "FIFA" for quite a while, after all we have been playing FIFA for more than 20 years. EA Sports didn't want to renew the expiring contract with FIFA, the cost of the naming rights for the game would have been more than 800 million Euros. Although EA earns so much money with FIFA Ultimate Team, it wasn't worth it to the North Americans to keep the legendary name of their most successful game.

About EA Sports FC
Currently, the release is still far away, but the rumor mill is always bubbling. Rumors have already circulated on Twitter that the transfer market will be completely abolished, but we can deny that for now.

EA Sports FC could have an online and women's career mode for the first time, that would be huge. But that would also require more women's teams than are currently in the game. We are curious to see what else is coming. Maybe the women's Bundesliga? Other top leagues from Europe, for example Spain? Because with only a handful of teams, an extra career mode wouldn't be worth it.

All the other modes are also familiar to us from the past. EA's cornerstone, Ultimate Team, can't be missing, of course. Somehow the guys over there have to earn their money. Pro Clubs is a popular mode that could still get more love from EA.

EA Sports FC Release Date

EA Sports FC Online Career Mode
The FIFA online career mode is a feature the community wanted for years. Until now these wishes have never been fulfilled... but this could change for EA Sports FC!

Already more than a year ago there was a job advertisement on the part of EA, who were looking for developers for an online career mode. At that time we still thought that EA would first develop the new mode for FIFA 22. When the mode wasn't in the game, we hoped for a release for FIFA 23, but there were no hints for an online career mode.

Then it became clear to us: EA wants to release the online career mode as a new feature for their new game EA Sports FC, to convince old and new players to buy it. I'll put it this way: If there really is an online career mode in EA Sports FC, I'd buy the game just for that.
