NEWS DETAIL

It's hard to believe, but this 64-game FIFA World Cup is nearly over. With 60 games down, just four remain before the champion is crowned. Tuesday and Wednesday will see the semifinals take place as Argentina battle Croatia, and France take on Morocco. A potential rematch of the 2018 final is still in play with France and Croatia one game away, but this tournament has taught us to expect the unpredictable. It's anybody's guess how this will all play out in the semifinals, but let's try.
Argentina came into the World Cup as second-favorites to win the tournament, behind only nemesis foes Brazil. The tournament seemed destined to pit the two South American rivals against each other in this semifinal, but Croatia spoiled the party by downing Brazil on penalties in the quarterfinal. The 2018 finalists are aiming to reach their second-straight title match, after falling just short at the hands of France four years ago.
Now, Luka Modric and company will hope to do the same to Lionel Messi and Argentina, who escaped with a penalty shootout win over the Netherlands in their quarterfinal despite a late capitulation that nearly doomed their World Cup hopes as well.
Messi, likely in his last FIFA World Cup, is once again putting his nation on his shoulders in the hopes of reaching a summit that neither he nor chief rival Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to crest.
Argentina vs. Croatia Prediction
De Paul has been the pressure man in the middle for Argentina with his relentless running and tracking down helping this team defensively. While Modric isn't overly mobile, I still would expect De Paul to be the guy to mark him in the attacking third and aiming to get the ball off of his feet.
However, the fitness of Angel Di Maria will be the biggest question ahead of this match for Argentina. The 34-year-old winger was utilized only as a late punt at the death against the Netherlands as he looked to recover from a muscle issue suffered at the end of the Round of 16 game against Australia. Rodrigo de Paul was an injury worry ahead of the Netherlands game but he proved fit to start.
Croatia have no injury worries to speak of heading into this match. Mateo Kovacic was a worry before the quarterfinal match after a facial injury during a gym session, but he was fit to start. Nikola Vlasic had a muscle injury in the group stage but has recovered, while Marcelo Brozovic has recovered from his pre-tournament hamstring issue to be a key part of the Croatia midfield.
On the other hand, Yellow cards accumulated to this point are wiped in the semifinal, so no players can be suspended for the World Cup final due to accumulation. Only players sent off in the semifinal would be at risk for a suspension in the final.
Lionel Messi is the penalty taker, the set piece taker, and the team's biggest threat in attack. He's second in the tournament in goals scored with four and has been everywhere this World Cup. He's also scored in both knockout stage games against Australia and the Netherlands. It high possible that he will be the first man to goal.
Emiliano Martinez probably can be a Man of the Match pick, While Messi may be Argentina's best player, "Dibu" is the heart and soul of this team. The confident, trash-talking goalkeeper is confident any time the ball comes his way, and he's surely livid with conceding twice against the Netherlands. If Argentina get through, he'll be a big reason why.
Considering all aforementioned details, It is high possible that Croatia will push the game into penalty shootout, then let's just see god's plan.
Morocco vs France Prediction
France is coming off a spectacular win against England, while Morocco pulled off a huge upset to knock out Portugal.
On Wednesday we have the second of this week's two World Cup semifinal matches, with favorites France facing unlikely semifinalists Morocco. The North African team have shocked the world and defied World Cup odds to reach this stage in becoming the first African team and have all of the neutrals behind them.
Could we see history being made again here or will the French be too strong? It's been a great run for the Moroccans anyway, but our World Cup betting picks are all in on the French, everything is very simple here, because it hard to image the pic of Morocco win.
