Since EA FC 27 Early Access began, Power Shot has become one of the more dangerous finishing options. It offers high ball speed from medium and long range, often with noticeable dip, and can beat the goalkeeper when you have enough space to complete the animation.

However, Power Shots take longer to execute than standard shots and require more precise manual aiming. To use them consistently, you need to judge shooting distance, angle, defensive pressure, and goalkeeper positioning. 

Players with Power Shot+ are particularly effective because their faster animation also creates more opportunities inside the box.

How to Power Shot?

With default controls, press L1, R1, and the shoot button simultaneously.

The player will perform a noticeable wind-up before shooting, so space is important. If a defender is already closing you down, the shot can easily be blocked before it is released. A Ball Roll or small directional adjustment can help create a better shooting lane.

Power Shots also use Manual Aim even when Assisted Shooting is enabled. If you push the left stick too far away from goal, FIFA 27 will not fully correct the direction for you.

When practicing, use smaller stick movements and let the player's body orientation help guide the shot. Keeping attempts on target consistently is more useful at first than immediately trying to hit the top corner.

Best Power Shot Range

Around 20 - 25 meters from goal is one of the most effective areas for Power Shots, especially when the ball carrier is slightly to one side.

A common approach is to face diagonally toward goal and aim across the goalkeeper toward the far corner. This distance usually provides enough time for the wind-up while allowing the shot's speed and dipping trajectory to become effective.

Shearer, for example, can use a Ball Roll outside the box to create space before releasing a Power Shot. Similar opportunities often appear during counter-attacks, when receiving the ball unmarked near the edge of the area, or when the opponent drops too deep.

If you mainly play Ultimate Team, your FUT 27 coins budget can also be used to target players with Power Shot or Power Shot+, giving your squad another way to threaten from outside the box.

The 20 - 25 meter range is only a guideline. There is no need to search for one exact spot every attack. If the shooting lane is clear and the player is properly positioned, the angle matters more than standing at a fixed distance.

Power Shots Inside The Box

In FC 27, Power Shots are not limited to long-range attempts. With enough separation from defenders, they can also work inside the penalty area, particularly with Power Shot+ players.

One useful option is attacking the near post. If you enter the box, turn toward the near side, and have enough room to complete the animation, the extra ball speed can make the shot difficult to stop even from a tighter angle.

Power Shots can also be used around the penalty spot or aimed across goal. Players such as Shearer and Ibrahimović can take advantage of short openings inside the box without first moving back into long-range shooting territory.

Space remains the deciding factor. If a defender is already tight to the attacker, waiting for Power Shot animation may waste the opportunity. Low Driven Shots, standard finishes, or Trivelas are quicker options in crowded areas. Power Shots work better once you have created at least a small amount of separation.

Why Power Shot+ is Better?

One of the main advantages of Power Shot+ in FIFA 27 is its faster shooting animation.

Outside the box, a standard Power Shot can still work because players often have more time to prepare. Inside the area, where defenders are much closer, even a small difference in execution speed becomes important.

Shearer and Ibrahimović both have Power Shot+, allowing them to release the shot more quickly after finding space. This makes PlayStyle much easier to use from shorter distances.

Players without Power Shot+ can still be effective when they receive the ball in open space, but forcing the animation under pressure is much riskier.

When upgrading an Ultimate Team squad, FC 27 coins do not always need to go toward the highest-OVR option available. Power Shot+, Shot Power, Long Shots, and overall shooting quality can matter just as much if long-range finishing is part of your attack.

Beating Goalkeeper Movement

Goalkeeper positioning should influence where you aim.

If your opponent moves the goalkeeper toward the far post before the shot, the near post will usually become more exposed. Continuing to aim across goal out of habit can send the ball directly toward the keeper, so changing direction is often the better option.

The same applies when the goalkeeper rushes forward. Their movement can open different shooting lanes, meaning Power Shots should not always be aimed toward one preferred corner.

You may also notice goalkeepers occasionally taking a small step forward as a Power Shot develops. Combined with a dipping long-range attempt, that positioning can make the shot harder to reach, although it should not be treated as a guaranteed goalkeeper behavior.

The safest approach is to check the keeper's position immediately before shooting and adjust accordingly.

If you are still shaping your Ultimate Team squad, keeping some FC 27 coins available for an ST, CAM, or CM with strong long-range shooting can also give you Power Shot threats from several attacking positions.

Best Power Shot Players

In FIFA 27, Power Shot+ should be one of the first things to check, followed by Shooting, Shot Power, and Long Shots.

STs naturally receive more direct finishing opportunities around the penalty area, making players such as Shearer and Ibrahimović obvious candidates. CAMs and CMs can also be valuable because they regularly receive the ball around the edge of the box, where Power Shots have enough space to develop.

Midfielders such as Valverde can fit this role particularly well when they combine ball-carrying ability with strong shooting attributes. A midfielder capable of threatening from distance can also force opponents to step out earlier instead of simply protecting the box.

Power Shots are most effective in FUT 27 when the situation suits them. Use them from range when defenders leave space, take advantage of Power Shot+ for quicker finishes inside the area, and aim carefully with the left stick.

Reading the goalkeeper and knowing when you have enough time to complete the animation will make the technique far more reliable.
