NEWS DETAIL
MLB The Show 24 is a new baseball simulation game developed by PlayStation Studios’ San Diego Studio, inspired by the 2024 season of Major League Baseball. This guide will focus on basic baseball tips and core game strategies, and many of the tips will also apply to MLB The Show 23.
Since MLB The Show 24 is a live service game, while we have tried our best to ensure the accuracy of all information, some game details may still be adjusted after the game is released.
Batting And Scoring
When a player successfully runs through all four bases on the field, you can score. The offensive player attempts to do this by hitting the ball of the defensive pitcher. The offensive player does not have to run all four bases in one hit, and the first three bases are safe on the way to the fourth base.
But be careful not to be tagged out by the defensive players between the two bases. The offensive team can only have a maximum of three outs before the end of an inning. Each team plays nine innings in a game.
In baseball, players can score points by hitting the ball and successfully running through the four bases on the field. The most direct way to score is to hit a home run, which is to hit the ball beyond the field boundary into the facilities around the stadium, and if there are other offensive players on base, the team can score more points.
The batter can gradually advance to the next base in an inning. This process requires cooperation between the offensive players, as different batters try to score runs, so-called RBI. Letting the offensive players load the bases is the most effective way to score, but it also gives the defensive team more opportunities to get out. When the bases are loaded, if a home run occurs, four runs are scored. Each time a player comes to bat is called a bat or AB.
Pitching And Fielding
Pitching and fielding are the defensive aspects of baseball. The pitcher stands on the pitcher’s mound in the center of the field and uses different techniques to throw the ball to the batter. If the ball passes through the home plate without being hit, the pitcher will get a strike. If the batter swings but misses the ball, the pitcher will also get a strike. However, if the ball does not hit home plate and the batter does not swing, the batter gets a strike.
In a single, three strikes result in a strikeout. The batter is also called out if he fails to reach base before being out by the defensive team, or if he hits the ball into the air and it is caught before it touches the ground. Four balls allow the batter to reach first base without hitting the ball.
The goal of the defensive team is to get three outs without allowing the opponent to score by using the coordination of the pitcher and fielder. This goal is achieved by using the following roles:
- Pitcher: Pitches from the pitcher’s mound to the batter.
- Catcher: Catches the ball behind the batter.
- First Base: Occupies first base.
- Second Base: Occupies second base.
- Third Base: Occupies third base.
- Short Stop: Located between second and third base to the left of the batter.
- Left Field: Occupies the left side of the outfield.
- Centre Field: Occupies the center of the outfield.
- Right Field: Occupies the right side of the outfield.
The key to defense is the pitcher, who can strike out the batter from the mound. But when the batter hits the ball into the field and finds a safe base, it is recorded as a hit. If a hit occurs, the defensive unit must work together to prevent the batter from crossing all four bases to score, so be careful when picking the best pitcher to avoid wasting your MLB The Show 24 Stubs.
Foul Balls
A foul ball is a ball hit by the batter that does not enter the field of play, lands in foul territory, or hits an object that is not part of the playing area. Foul balls count as strikes when at-bats are made until the batter accumulates two strikes, at which point foul balls no longer count as strikes, but the batter can keep hitting the ball to wear out the pitcher’s stamina.
Stealing
Stealing is the act of a runner trying to rush to the next base as the pitcher throws the ball. This allows you to move to the next base without relying on the batter, but requires enough agility to ensure you reach your destination before the defensive team knocks you out.
Bullpen
MLB teams have a roster of pitchers for the entire game. The starting pitcher is usually the most durable and pitches five to eight innings on average. Other pitchers can warm up in the bullpen during the game, and each team has different types of pitchers on their roster. They each play different roles during the nine-inning game.
Pinch Hitting
Pinch hitting is when the next batter in the lineup is replaced by another batter in the roster. Pinch running is when the player on base is replaced by another player.
In short, whether you are a novice or an experienced player, you can find fun and improve your skill level in MLB The Show 24.
