NBA 2K27 MyCAREER Best Attribute Thresholds | Build Smarter and Avoid Wasted Points

In NBA 2K27, building a demigod player requires you to allocate your attribute points wisely. Before other players share their builds, you need to figure out the best combinations for yourself.

If you know the best value thresholds for each attribute rating in NBA 2K27, building your player becomes much easier. Below, let's look at some of the most important attributes, the ratings they require, and the badges they can unlock.

NBA 2K27 MyCAREER Best Attribute Thresholds | Build Smarter and Avoid Wasted Points

Shot

Close Shot

  • Recommended: 60 / 86

60 unlocks Bronze Paint Prodigy badge, allowing you to complete close-range finishing moves faster. If you do not care much about Close Shot, getting it to at least 60 is a reasonable choice.

86 unlocks Gold Ghost Stepper and Silver Paint Prodigy. If you like using techniques such as stepthroughs, this rating is well worth pursuing. Ghost Stepper badge can be extremely effective in this area.

Mid-Range Shot

  • Recommended: 85

85 allows your build to reach Silver Deadeye and Gold Set Shot Specialist. In addition, if you want Shot Artist Takeover, both your Mid-Range Shot and Three-Point Shot need to reach 89.

Three-Pointer

  • Recommended: 80

78 gives you Set Shot Specialist and Bronze No Dip badge. 80 allows you to use a large number of shooting animations, provided you have enough attribute points to unlock them. If you want Calibrated Takeover, both your Mid-Range Shot and Three-Point Shot need to reach 85.

Free Throw

  • Recommended: 83

The ideal Free Throw rating depends on your position. Free Throws are especially important for Point Guards and Centers. Centers are more likely to draw fouls while fighting for offensive rebounds, while Point Guards are often intentionally fouled late in games.

Shooting Guards can face similar situations. Defensive players, or Locks, are rarely fouled, so they can afford to give up some Free Throw rating.

83 was a solid rating in 2K26, providing a respectable conversion rate without making every attempt effortless. Free Throw ratings in the 70 to 80 range should also perform well.

Dunk

Driving Dunk

  • Recommended: 87

87 can simultaneously meet the requirements for Silver Posterizer, Airspace Takeoff, and Pro Contact Dunks. This is the first contact dunk animation threshold you can reach with the lowest possible Driving Dunk rating.

Standing Dunk

  • Recommended: 45 / 65 / 81

45 unlocks basic Standing Dunk animations. Keep in mind that when you catch a pass while cutting toward the basket, the game may register the action as a Standing Dunk instead of a Driving Dunk.

As long as you are moving, your Driving Dunk rating will be used, but if you are close enough to the basket, a Standing Dunk animation can still trigger. The main purpose of 40 to 45 is simply to unlock Standing Dunk animations.

At 65, you can unlock additional animations, while 60 gives you Bronze Rise Up badge, which should theoretically provide a higher conversion rate.

Bigs can unlock Pro Bigman Contact Dunks at 80, while 81 also grants Silver Rise Up.

Driving Layup

  • Recommended: 80

80 is the threshold for a large number of top-tier layup animations, making it especially suitable for Bigs. You can unlock layup packages from players such as Jalen Duren and Domantas Sabonis.

In addition, there are several excellent floater animations around 77. A rating of 80 can also provide a major boost when performing Euro steps, spins, and hop-step layups.

Pass Accuracy

  • Recommended: 80 / 86

80 allows you to unlock Dishmaster Takeover, which is an excellent playmaking Takeover that can be charged easily through assists. 86 gives you Gold Dimer badge.

Passing performance is generally on the weaker side, and lower Pass Accuracy makes your passes easier to intercept. However, for a Lock who stays in the corner, you will rarely touch the ball, so Pass Accuracy is not particularly important.

Ball Handle

  • Recommended: 71 / 81

71 unlocks Handles for Days badge, while around 70 gives you access to a large number of quality Signature Moves, including Pro Crossover and Pro Behind-the-Back animations for Bigs.

81 reaches Silver Handles for Days threshold, while also giving you a wider selection of dribble animations. A rating around 80 is tied to a large number of moves.

Speed with Ball

  • Recommended: 40 / 68 / 75

40 Speed with Ball allows you to unlock Normal Dribble Style, which is one of the best dribble styles for Bigs. A rating of 40 also unlocks Normal Dribble Sigs, giving you at least one more option than Basic.

68 unlocks Bronze Lightning Launch. This is suitable for undersized hybrid Bigs between 6'8" and 6'11", but you need to be close to the minimum weight to reach it, and players at 7 feet or taller cannot obtain it.

75 unlocks Silver Lightning Launch and James Harden Dribble Style, making it suitable for defensive builds.

Defense

NBA 2k27 Defense

Interior Defense

  • Recommended: 80

80 Interior Defense meets one of the requirements for Bronze Wall Up badge and Rim Guardian Takeover. The other requirement for Takeover is 80 Block.

Perimeter Defense

  • Recommended: 85

85 gives you Silver version of all Perimeter Defense badges, while around 71 unlocks Bronze Challenger. A rating of 74 to 75 gives you all Bronze Perimeter Defense badges, but 85 is the best threshold because it can create a major improvement in your defensive performance.

Steal

  • Recommended: 60 / 77

NBA 2K27 has raised several Steal thresholds compared with last year. 60 unlocks Bronze Interceptor. Because passing is relatively weak in 2K27, not having Bronze Interceptor can leave you at a major disadvantage. Reaching 77 unlocks Silver Interceptor, while 90 is the threshold for Gold Interceptor.

Speed

Centers need to maximize their Speed whenever possible. If you are not going to push Speed to the maximum available for your position, it may be better to build a taller player instead. Speed is less important for Locks, and anything above 70 should be sufficient because they will not be too slow to get back on defense.

For Guards, around 85 may be enough unless defense is a major priority. Speed contributes heavily on the defensive end, and it is also important for Centers on offense.

Finally, it's important to remember that, just like unlocking players with NBA 2K27 MT in MyTeam, both move packs and attribute upgrades require VC. Don't rush to acquire all move packs; instead, focus on improving attributes and unlocking move packs for a specific position for maximum efficiency.

In NBA 2K27 MyCAREER, you need to decide what type of player you want to become before allocating your attributes accordingly. Although you can reset your attributes, by the time you realize where your build falls short, you may have already wasted a considerable amount of time.
