EA FC 27 will officially launch on September 18th, and The Grounds is undoubtedly the most anticipated new gameplay mode. It combines various game modes into a shared space that can accommodate up to 100 players.

FIFA 27 provides players with a place outside of traditional matches where they can play with friends, explore, chat, and develop their players. For players who are tired of traditional FIFA gameplay, this may be the most exciting aspect of The Grounds.

FC 27 The Grounds: What Can You Actually Do in This New Open World?

This guide will give you a complete overview of the main content of FC 27 The Grounds, showing you exactly what this new open world has to offer.

The Grounds

At the heart of FIFA 27 The Grounds is The Terrace. Once inside, you can go directly to Clubhouse or check out the new items in The Grounds Store.

Clubhouse isn't a fixed menu interface; it changes based on your FC 27 Club customization. A well-established club that has been running for some time will look significantly different from a newly created team.

The Grounds features three distinct zones, each representing a different football culture. Montclair is themed around French urban football, with caged pitches and dense urban streets.

Zeiza is closer to Argentinian street football atmosphere, blending European and Latin architectural styles; Parkside represents British grassroots football culture, with brick buildings, autumn trees, and a typical British neighborhood.

The Grounds also features two main entrances: one leading to 11v11 Stadium Drop-In, and the other to Rush Stadium, including Ranked Rush and Rush Tournaments. After entering the open world, you can directly jump into official FUT 27 matches from here and earn FC coins.

Mini-Games

EA FC 27 The Grounds offers various street football modes. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and Rush can all be played on different pitches, and each match lasts only 3 minutes. 1v1 allows each team to have one player on the field and a CPU goalkeeper, while 2v2 and 3v3 remove the goalkeeper and shrink the goal.

Shooting is done manually, while passing remains fully assisted. Fouls take full effect, free kicks outside the penalty area are taken directly from the location of the foul, and fouls inside the penalty area result in penalties.

In addition, FUT 27 The Grounds features numerous more entertaining Kickabouts. For example, Botche Ball is a three-way free-for-all where you shoot the ball at shrinking, splitting targets; Team Keepaway is a 3v3 passing game where completing 5 or 10 consecutive passes grants a scoring multiplier.

In The Big Race, you dribble the ball through obstacle courses, dodging moving obstacles, lava floors, and various traps. 2v2 Attacking Scenarios offer tasks from 10 random targets, such as scoring by bouncing off walls, achieving a First Time Shot, or completing three passes before scoring.

Bucket Ball is more like basketball, requiring you to lob the ball into the hoop, or score with spikes and precise headers. Balloon Ball has been completely redesigned to resemble Battle Royale. Each EA FC 27 player has three balloons above their head; being hit once results in losing one balloon. Once all three are gone, the player is teleported to the sidelines to spectate.

FIFA 27 The Grounds even features Goal Control, where you compete for and defend your goal on the same pitch. Dropkick targets, including circular, ring-shaped, and pentagonal targets, are randomly scattered across the map. You can find them in your spare time and earn weekly rewards.

Archivetypes

The Grounds isn't a completely separate open world from Virtual Pro progression system; you can bring your own build to different gameplay modes.

EA FC 27 Archetypes have been adjusted to make Virtual Pro progression more flexible. All Archetypes are unlockable from the start, eliminating the need to repeatedly grind levels for a specific build.

Furthermore, resetting a build no longer requires FUT 27 coins or other consumables, and you can adjust individual attributes without having to redo the entire build just to change a single number.

More importantly, each Archetype developed to a certain level will leave a permanent boost to your Virtual Pro. For example, reaching level 10 in Finisher Archetype will permanently grant +1 Finishing and +1 Composure. This bonus applies to all subsequent builds, with 13 different Archetypes.

Additionally, there are Amps. In FUT 27, Standard Amps primarily provide a direct attribute boost, while Signature Amps, inspired by football star styles, provide corresponding Play Styles and Perks, and these effects can be applied to Stadium Matches and World Rush.

Clubs

The new Clubs Live Tournaments in The Grounds feature different House Rules, such as Mystery Ball, King of the Hill, Headers and Volleys, Survival, and Long Range, offering more than just the traditional FIFA 27 League mode.

Club objectives are also more team-oriented, allowing players to work together to achieve goals even when they are not online at the same time. Elite Division Clubs will also gain additional competitive tiers, giving top teams continued goals to strive for.

Customization

Customization in FUT 27 The Grounds is also more extensive than before. You can set up separate Street Outfits and Stadium Outfits and use Licensed Clothing Brands, with up to eight Emotes that can be assigned.

Each of the three districts also has its own store, selling locally themed items, while The Ground Store offers a complete catalog. FIFA 27 will also include a full season pass. You earn Points by completing Objectives, which unlock Outfits, Amps, Consumers, and FC 27 coins.

Voice Chat

The real social element in FC 27 The Grounds is voice chat. You can use Team-Based Party Chat when playing with friends in The Grounds. If a random player joins, you can also add them to Team Chat.

This may sound like a minor feature, but it perfectly fills the void in FUT series of playing football with friends on the sidelines. Unfortunately, Proximity Chat is not yet confirmed for release; EA has only stated that they will continue to monitor player interest in this feature.

FC 27 The Grounds finally has a truly player-owned football community space. If EA continues to add new content and District events, The Grounds has the potential to become the most popular place for players to spend a significant amount of time in FIFA 27.
